For my 28th
Birthday, Chris took me to Venice for a weekend break. Little did I
know, but he had a hidden agenda!
Firstly, we arrived at our hotel, which as you can see was absolutely
beautiful! Our hotel was situated close to Piazzale Roma, so was a
short distance from the bus station, waterbus ticket office and our
favourite little pub :)
Once we had checked in and changed our clothes, we decided it was time
for a drink and some of the delicious pizza you can buy from little
kiosks around Venice. Chris decided, that as it was my birthday, we
would go on a gondola as a treat.... how romantic it was, seeing
Venice as it really is, seeing places you would not be able to see on
foot. We must have tired the poor man out though, he had to take a
nap shortly after :)
We went right through
all the canals and came to St Mark's Square which is the most romantic
place in Venice. Chris decided that as it was a special occasion (oh,
little did I know just how special!!), we would have a bottle of wine
and listen to the quartet at the Cafe Florian.... another of the
rather pricey coffee shops.
It was at this lovely
coffee shop, while drinking our very delicious wine that he gave me
the shock of my life and asked me to marry him!!! I was shocked but
extremely happy, so much so that I cried.... for joy of course :) And
obviously, I heartily accepted and he gave me a very beautiful, very
tasteful, perfectly fitting engagement ring.
And so now, we have a
few very busy months ahead as we have set the date for the wedding,
which will take place on Saturday 30th October 2004.
More details of which
will be placed on this wedding site, as and when we manage to get the
site updated :)
